A view down The Queen's Staircase. It was built by slave labor as the entrance to Fort Fincastle. Originally there were 66 steps, all hand carved. Over the years, road paving and resurfacing has raised the street level so that only 65 steps remain. All of the rock cut away was used to build the fort.
